A number of civilians including women and defected government army members have joined the Tigray People Democratic Movement (TPDM) this week.
Among them:-
1) Corporal kiros asefa from Tigray centeral zone, district-Ahferom, village-Geziet. He was a member of 11th division, 7th regiment, 1st company, 1st platoon, 1st squad
2) Pvt. Endibu Temesgen Adnew from the oromo ethnic group,western welega zone, District-Sasaga ,village Yurgaba . He was a member of 11th division, 7th regiment, 2nd captain, 2nd platoon, 4th squad
3) Pvt. Chalachew Mamo Shiferaw from the Amhara Ethnic group, Gonder city, kebelle 09. He was a member of 11th division, 7th regiment, 3rd company, 3rd platoon, and 3rd squad
4) Pvt. Tadele Alemu Abebe , from Awasa zone, destrict Argobna , Kebele 01. He was a member of 11th division, 1st regiment, 2nd company
5) Pvt. Nuredin Mahdi Mahamed from somal ethic group, jijiga zone, Awber destrict, Kebele 03. He was a member of 31th division, 6th regiment, 4th company, 3rd platoon, and 3rd squade.
6) Pvt. Gebremedhin Fishaye Gebreslase , from Adwa ketema . He was amember of 33rd division, 7th regment, 5th captain, 2nd platoon, and 2nd squad
7) Pvt. Grmay Barakhi Araya from debub Tigray zone, destrict-Alaje, village elibat. He was a member of 33rd division, 3rd regiment, 4th company, 2nd platoon, and 1st squad
8) Corporal Mekonen Tekie Redhegn ,from Humera town . He was a member of 31st division, 2nd regiment, 1st captain, 1st platoon, and 2nd squad

According to them lack of justice, deprival of the right to move from place to place within the country, intimidation arbitrary arrest and torture have forced them to join the TPDM opposing the dictatorial regime of EPRDF.
Specially government army members’ pvt. Tadese Alemu and Gebremedhin Fishaye made clear that there is division within the army members. That it is strictly forbidden for army members to listen to any opposion parties’ broadcasting service, which is punishable and no army member is allowed his annual leave to visit his parents. Finally astonished by the current development that the TPDM have attained they determined to join the rebel organization and struggle against the anti-democratic system currently running the country until the peoples’ democratic question met.
